Hill Air Force Base runway going through overhaul

The runway at the St. George airport isn’t the only runway in Utah to be under construction.

F-35 pilots stationed at Hill Air Force Base will be flying the skies of Idaho for a couple of months.

The 34th Fighter Squadron and 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit will transition to Mountain Home Air Force Base southwest of Boise while the runway at Hill Air Force Base is shut down for construction.

About 250 airman and 24 aircraft will make the trip.

The Hill runway will undergo a 44-million-dollar overhaul that will widen the shoulders and improve the electrical system.
