Walmart Is changing it up! The grocery chain has been rolling out a series of changes over the past year, and now stores in Utah, Nevada, and California are seeing another update.

Recently, Walmart changed its coupon policy, limiting both the types and quantity of coupons that customers can use. Store have also been undergoing cosmetic upgrades like modernized floors and bathrooms. They are also trying to make more room for self check out. I'm old-school and I want to talk to someone while I am checking out. Also, my cart is usually too full to try and bag all of my groceries in that tiny bagging area.

However, the latest change is more subtle and may not be immediately noticeable. It could take a few trips to the store to catch on, if at all. Unless you are a frequent thief of Walmart stores.....

According to reports, Walmart is quietly altering its self-checkout process to combat theft. The new technology is designed to make it more difficult for people to steal during self-checkout.

So, how does it work? The new system can recognize items even if the barcode isn’t scanned. It uses invisible codes embedded in the packaging that aren’t visible to the human eye. This sneaky but clever approach enhances security.

On top of that, the technology can detect multiple items at once, speeding up the checkout process in self-checkout lanes.

Like many other retailers, Walmart has faced challenges with theft at self-checkout stations. This new system is expected to cut down on losses, so anyone thinking of taking advantage might want to think twice!  Also, you might want to warn your teens that there are big fines and community service in their future if they try to thieve at Southern Utah Walmarts.

I have actually been stopped a few times when I am trying to hurry and only buy a few items at self check out. The Walmart worker was very irritated that he had to come fix yet another machine because it kept saying I didn't scan something. He didn't even check my bags. He said the machines had been doing it all day. So hopefully they figure out the glitches quick or your fast self check outs might not be so fast.
