Sorry, there will be no big game in Nevada this weekend, but Las Vegas will be sending an all-star to the next best thing. Well, maybe not viewed as much as that other major competition, but still the Puppy Bowl is big news for some of us.

Maxx, a three-legged Doberman puppy, will be part of this year’s Puppy Bowl, bringing his unique story to the competition. According to the Nevada SPCA, Maxx will make his journey from “shelter to stardom” as he competes in the event.

I know stardom can get to some of the high intensity athletes and I hope it doesn’t mess with Maxx’s head. I can see him demanding sorted kibble, celebrating too hard or maybe worse, marking too many things as “his territory”.

I’m sure his humble beginnings and winning spirit will override those tendencies toward fame.

How did Maxx the Doberman puppy become a three-legged puppy? Maxx came to the Nevada SPCA at just 2 months old, he had a malformed front leg that required amputation. Since then, he has thrived as a tripod puppy, adjusting well to his new life.

So, gather around and let’s cheer for our local underdog, (hmmm, that came out a little more punny then expected) Maxx the 3 Doberman rescue puppy from the desert to the Puppy Bowl and who knows this might be the year that Maxx finds a home, somehow I think his winning spirit and adorable nature will win out and I think he will. That is unless that fame thing bites him...no I’m sure he will be immune to it all.
