Chapter 10 Experimenting 63

This cave was different. Great care had been taken in making the furniture formed of rock and decorated with intricate carvings.

“Did you create this with this other power you discovered?” asked Succubus.

“The demon system will be overthrown,” said Ansu. “It will by one who doesn’t think the same.” The old demon smiled knowingly at Succubus.

Suspecting what he was implying, Succubus backed away from the table. “Not by me,” he said. “I don’t want to end up a servant.”

Ansu, turned and picked up the scroll from the table. He rolled it and set it on the shelf with the others. With a backward flick of his hand the opening slowly appeared in the wall again.

Succubus hurried through and out of the small alcove. As he made his way through the caverns back to the place he shared with his age group, he thought it would be best to avoid Ansu from now on.

The Ten probably made him a servant so he’d stop creepin’ out the humans, he thought.

He cast out the thoughts of overthrowing demonkind Ansu had put in his mind. He would keep his head down and learn to curse so he could go on to torture humans like every other demon.

Succubus was glad of one thing he had learned from Ansu, how to cook mushrooms and roots. That’s one thing he would keep from the old demon.
