There is good news for people in Utah who like to go out to eat at a restaurant. On a list of the states with the dirtiest restaurants, Utah was not in the top ten. The bad news is that two states next door to us are.

Complaints About Restaurants Broken Down Into Each State

A study that looked at reviews from TripAdvisor for complaints about restaurants separated out the negative ones. They broke these down into three categories which were dirty, hair in food, and rats and roaches.

They totaled these up and noted what states had the most. If you are going to eat in New Jersey, you may want to bring your own disinfectant wipes. The number of dirty complaints was more than 300,000 above anywhere else.

Apparently even the roaches and rats find New Jersey restaurants too filthy. They led in dirty complaints but apparently the pest went to California who led in the rats and roaches category with 960 negative reviews.

The top three states with dirtiest were New Jersey followed by Florida with California getting the bronze.

Good News for Utah But Not for States Nearby

In Utah, the restaurants don’t get enough complaints to even get a mention, but just across the border in Arizona, it is a different story. Arizona lands at number 4 on the list with 2,841 total votes.

Another next-door state is Nevada that made the list at number 9 with 1,874 negative reviews. It certainly isn't true for every restaurant in these states, but you might want to be choosy if you are visiting.
