Deciding to Fly

I have a meeting out of state that I am trying to get to. The way I narrow down options usually includes a lot of discussion with anyone who will listen. I considered a shuttle bus, driving myself, or even flying. After some time, I decided it would be easiest to fly and found some reasonable tickets.

Today one of my kids that I had included in the decision announced authoritatively that if I was still considering options I had better not choose to fly because of the trouble they are having in Newark.

Tale of Two Interpretations

The story includes a 90 second black out that interrupted communication between air traffic control and the flights. Then the details seemed to split into two general directions depending on my source. One side painted a pretty solid disaster with airport system failure and traffic controller strikes. The other towed the line of regular maintenance and sweeping improvements under the watch of transportation secretary Sean Duffy.

It's not new to have opposing emotional positions on big issues while our current legislation continues with sweeping decisions but both sides are less than helpful as we try to carry on our regular lives.
