Could A New Food Court King Be Coming To Utah?
I know a lot of people in Cedar City really, really want to have a Costco in town. I can understand that, you can get items in bulk, and for those who have larger families that can be a real benefit, along with saving some serious money. I don't know if the area will ever get to a point with population that will have the Costco corporate folks looking at a Cedar City location (However, I will quickly point out that Costco does have a warehouse store in Juneau, Alaska, and that's smaller than Cedar City, and Juneau also has other big box stores, so it's not like Costco had to build there because there were no other options).
Since our kids are gone and it's just the two of us at our house now, the buying in bulk opportunity isn't as much of a drew for us as it may have been earlier in our lives. However, if we did have a Costco in town, I definitely would be stopping in for another reason. The Food Court.
The Costco food court has become a culinary icon, drawing people from all walks of life for its unbeatable combination of convenience, affordability, and taste. Nestled near the exit of every Costco warehouse, this unassuming dining space is a destination in its own right, beloved for its comfort food and legendary value.
I mean the hot dogs? Legendary.
But hold on there Costco, turns out you may no longer be the only food court game in town.
Eat This, Not That says there could be a new food court sheriff in town, and it could bring food court options to locations all across the country, including Cedar City.
According to the story:
Walmart is also getting in the game. Walmart shoppers will soon be able to enjoy hot dog stations from Texas-based Crave Hot Dogs & Barbeque, a family-owned restaurant chain founded in 2018, at select locations across the U.S.
Hot dogs and barbeque? I'm in! And sure, I may not be able to get a 50 gallon drum of peanut butter at my Wal Mart store, but can I just say again, hot dogs and barbeque!
Now, there's no guarantee that the food court will be added to all Wal Mart stores and if they are, no idea how long it would take before we saw them at any of their locations in southern Utah. But if they do make it here, just another reason to not go zipping down to the Costco locations.

Well, hang on. They still have those great chocolate covered raisins.....
