Southern Utahn's and doctors from all over the world are noticing that those who have tested positive for the coronavirus, are discovering discolored and swollen toes. They're calling it "Covid Toes."

Apparently Covid Toes can appear at any age. Children, teenagers, and even young adults  are at the highest risk of developing Covid Toes. The young patients are healthy, but developed more common symptoms, like dry cough, muscle aches, and fevers.

WHAT DO YOU SEE WITH COVID TOES?

With Covid Toes, you may develop this on your toes and fingers, but most people are developing it on their toes. There will be swelling and purplish discoloration. At first, it will start out as bright red and gradually turn to purple. But, along with the swelling and discoloration, Covid Toes can even cause pain, itchiness, and blisters. Some people have even reported painful raised bumps or rough skin.

TREATMENT FOR COVID TOES:

To help with the itching or pain, it's suggested to apply a hydrocortisone cream to the affected area. If that doesn't seem to work for you, or the pain gets worse, you should contact a dermatologist or your physician.

HOW LONG DOES COVID TOES LAST?:

Covid Toes WILL eventually go away without treatment, and while it's too soon to know know how long it will last, most cases last between 10-14 days. However, some people have reported Covid Toes lasting for months.

It's still unknown if Covid Toes are contagious. Covid Toes is also commonly mistaken for Chilblains. Chilblains develops if someone is exposed to the cold.
