3 horses dead after being hit on R9 near Virgin

Three horses are dead after being hit by 2 vehicles Friday night on State Route 9 near Virgin.  One of the drivers sustained minor injuries.

According to police the cars were traveling westbound in a dark area of the road when six horses wondered out onto the road.  The first vehicle tried to brake but hit two of the horses and the second car hit a third horse.  The accident left all 3 horses dead from their injuries.  One driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
