Two children are in the hospital after eating THC-laced candy from a food bank in Roy.

A five-year-old and an 11-year-old were taken to the hospital Friday after consuming "Medicated Nerd Ropes" given to their families as part of a food distribution effort from a church working with the Utah Food Bank.

Several other children ate some of the candy but did not require hospitalization.

Police in Roy say volunteers distributed more than 60 bags with three-to-four servings of the candy and that an attempt was made to reach every family who left contact information with the church.
