As state lawmakers look to rework Utah's tax code, the Senate minority leader is pushing for a tax on soda and candy.

Democrat Karen Mayne said that she wants to avoid a statewide sales tax on all food in Utah.

Members of the Legislature will hold their first public meeting to discuss a number of tax proposals suggested by a special task force later today.

Mayne says she won't be giving up soda if her proposal is adopted.
