Congressman calling for more work in suicide prevention
Democratic Congressman Ben McAdams and Utah health experts are calling for more work to prevent suicides in the state.
Speaking at University of Utah Health yesterday, McAdams and doctors discussed the importance of research to better understand risk factors of suicide, and the need to fund suicide prevention resources.
McAdams is currently pushing an amendment to add two-million dollars to the CDC's Injury & Prevention Control suicide program.
Numbers from the CDC show that Utah has the sixth-highest suicide rate in the country.
