Diesel Brothers fined by judge

A member of the Diesel Brothers says a judge's decision to fine them 850-thousand-dollars is irrelevant in the battle to keep Utah's air clean. 

David "Heavy D" Sparks is defending the group's decision to remove pieces from the anti-pollution systems on some diesel trucks, saying that leaving them on can cost customers thousands of dollars when they go bad.

A federal judge announced last week that he was imposing the fine against Sparks, Keaton Hoskins and Joshua Stuart, who are best known for their Discovery Channel TV show. 

The judge said the trio violated the Clean Air Act by removing pollution control devices and installing devices to bypass emission controls. 

Sparks says the group has not decided whether they will appeal the judge's decision.

Sparks feels the Diesel Brothers are doing more to keep Utah's air clean by trying to use better fuel and invent new technology.
