Examiner confirms man’s body found in freezer there for a decade

A man whose body was found inside his wife's freezer in Tooele last month died nearly a decade ago.

According to the Medical Examiner's Office, 69-year-old Paul Mathers has been dead for nearly 11 years.

However, the cause of his death remains unknown.

Police found the victim inside the chest freezer of the apartment of 75-year-old Jeanne Souron-Mathers while conducting a welfare check at her apartment.

Investigators say the victim and his wife got the apartment together in 2007.
