Is Utah next? California's Wage Hike Sends Chick-fil-A Meal Price

Everyone across the country has noticed that is now costs MUCH MORE to go out to eat. This isn't mere perception the cost of living has skyrocketed local grocery costs as well and fast food orders. Not just in Utah either. For example, in California Chick-fil-A has indeed raised prices by over 10% on certain meals. It is awful. I just hope it doesn't keep increasing. We aren't going to be able to afford anything, let alone when we go on vaca.

The recent raise in California's minimum wage to $20 per hour, a significant leap from its already notable $16, has posed a dilemma for businesses like Chick-fil-A. They must choose between reducing their workforce or transferring some expenses to us. Both options are not good.

According to 24/7 Wall St., Seth Amitin, a therapist from Los Angeles, his usual $16 Chick-fil-A meal now sets him back $20. This substantial increase is noteworthy, particularly for those who frequent Chick-fil-A as a preferred meal option. Research from Gordon Hackett supports this, suggesting that prices in California have surged by just over 11% between mid-February and mid-April.

The escalation in fast food prices stems from various challenges, including escalating wages, heightened diesel and gasoline costs impacting food transportation, and surging chocolate prices. None of this makes me feel better when I need to grab something to eat because I didn't plan enough ahead to avoid it. Plus taking my whole family out to dinner is a rarity now. It's just too dang expensive. I really hope it slows down soon. Every time I pass the billboard by the Red Cliffs Mall that tells us that the loan percentage is over 6% I cry for those trying to buy homes. Can we wait it out and will wages catch up or do we have to endure a crash/recession. I just don't think we can bare this much longer.
