It's fair time here in Washington County with the 2024 Washington County Fair! Thousands of people will head on down to the Washington County Legacy Park to have fun, eat food, laugh, and ride carnival rides! The Washington County Fair is now in April with much cooler temperatures, meaning we'll have TONS of people out there this week. Tons of people will mean TONS and TONS of traffic!

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU'RE GOING TO THE FAIR THIS WEEK:

At the County Fair, there is tons of on-site parking, but only ONE exit. People have been reporting wait times up to 2 hours to leave the Legacy Park. Three years ago, I was trying to leave the Legacy Park after the Demolition Derby on Saturday night, and it took me THREE HOURS to leave the place.

Now, I park my car as close to the traffic light as possible. I've parked multiple times at the DMV (I've never been towed, but I'm not positive if they are okay with people parking there.) But, I would try to avoid parking close to the events at the fairgrounds. You will end up walking a good amount, but it will absolutely save you time in the long run upon leaving the events.

IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE?

According to Google Maps, it appears there is a road going AROUND the legacy park and in front of the jail before meeting back up at the DMV. So if you that's correct, and you do park closer to the events, maybe you could go around the legacy park and save time that way. Either way, you need to prepare that it could take you a while to leave the venue!
