Known for their INCREDIBLE sweet pork chimichanga, tacos, and burritos, Green Iguana has been a fan favorite for years in St. George. They've got their four sauces that they smother their burritos and chimichangas with, Green Sauce, Red Sauce, Cheese Sauce (Tres Queso), and my favorite... The white sauce! If you haven't tried the white sauce yet, you really need to try it out. It's awesome!
Run into Green Iguana for dinner Tuesday night, lunch Wednesday afternoon or dinner Wednesday night!
Comedians That Would Absolutely SELL OUT in Southern Utah
Last summer, Comedian and Podcaster, Theo Von, came to Southern Utah! Theo performed his set in Springdale, Utah at OC Tanner Amphitheater. Theo's tickets sold out QUICK, as his fans were thrilled to have him in Southern Utah. People traveled from Northern Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho and even Wyoming!
That, alone, should prove to local venues and investors that Southern Utah is willing to spend their money on Comedians coming to the area!
Here are a list of the TOP Comedians that should come to Southern Utah!
Shane Gillis:
Shane just hosted SNL a couple weekends ago, and it was MAYBE the best episode SNL has had in a decade. Shane is a very politically incorrect comedian, but people love him. He was actually hired to be a cast member on SNL before getting fired for things he said on a podcast, before ever getting a chance to be on the show. Shane might be the biggest comedian in the world right now, and we'd love to have him here!
Bert Kreischer:
THE MACHINE! If you've never seen Bert before, you gotta check him out! He has a movie out about his crazy story in Russia with the Russian Mob. It's called "The Machine". He's also the man who inspired the movie "National Lampoons Van Wilder". Bert also has a huge podcast called "The Bertcast", another one called "2 Bears 1 Cave", and even has a Netflix show called "The Cabin."
Dane Cook:
My favorite comedian of ALL TIME! Dane Cook got BIG on Myspace, and became really the first celebrity to use social media to build his brand. You've probably seen a few of his movies like "Employee of the Month" or "Good Luck Chuck". I would go NUTS if Dane Cook came to town!
Nate Bargatze:
Nate is really pretty new to the scene. I've only heard of him the last year. But the guy is SO FUNNY and really relatable. He's on Netflix with his specials, and he seems fairly family-friendly.
John Mulaney:
John Mulaney was a big-time writer on Saturday Night Live. He just released his newest comedy special on Netflix which talks a lot about his last struggle with drugs and alcohol, but he's now been clean for a while! John Mulaney would be a home run to get booked in Southern Utah.
Andrew Santino:
Andrew Santino is someone who flies WAY under the radar, but he's SO FUNNY! He's got his podcast, "The Whiskey Ginger Podcast", and a second podcast with fellow comedian Bobby Lee, "Bad Friends".
Jim Gaffigan:
Jim Gaffigan may be WAY out of our league to ever book in Southern Utah, but I'd love it. He plays Vegas a lot, and Salt Lake City. Can't we get him at Tuacahn or Utah Tech? His comedy specials are on Netflix, and he also had a show on Comedy Central "The Jim Gaffigan Show."
Gabriel Iglesias:
FLUFFY! He's one of the biggest Mexican-American comedians out there, and I LOVE HIS STUFF! He's been in movies like "Magic Mike", "Space Jam: A New Legacy", "Coco", "Ferdinand" and many more.
Daniel Tosh:
You've probably seen his show TOSH.0 on Comedy Central, where it aired for 12 seasons. Daniel also has a huge following for his stand-up comedy. I've seen that he performs in Vegas a lot, and think MAYBE we can get him in St. George if we play our cards right!
Matt Rife:
Last, but DEFINITELY not least... Matt Rife. He's all over Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok. GIRLS LOVE HIM! I've seen petitions all over social media of people wanting him in their city!
Who would YOU love to see grace a stage in Southern Utah?
New St. George Restaurant Holds INCREDIBLE Grand Opening Event!
Did you make it to the Grand Opening celebration of Houston Hot Chicken in St. George this Saturday? If you said no, you're one of the very few in town who DIDN'T attend the event! This was maybe the BIGGEST event I've ever seen in St. George at a restaurant. Parking lots in the area were packed, and I had to park FOUR businesses away at a different restaurant!
Houston Hot Chicken was feeding the first 1,000 people, and by the time doors opened at noon, there was a line outside the building, ALL THE WAY down the parking lot. Thousands of people showed up to try the new restaurant, enter in the food eating contests, or check out the cars at the car meet in the parking lot.
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE:
As stated above, the line was out the door and down the parking lot for some free food! People were happy, cheerful, and ready to try the new restaurant in town. There were also dozens of people out checking out the vehicles, and talking with friends. HHC even rolled out the red carpet at the entrance.
INSIDE:
Both friends and families were seen inside enjoying their free food, and the employees were hustling to push out more meals to the people! They had "Mild", "Medium", and "Honey Butter" flavors of chicken sandwiches ready, but it seemed like the Medium was the fan favorite.
CAR MEET:
Dozens of awesome cars showed up to the Car Meet. You could see classic cars, newer cars, as well as some cars you've never seen before at the meet.
FOOD CHALLENGES:
HHC held a few different food challenges where you could win cash! One of the challenges was eating 3 chicken tenders with their hottest spice: Houston We Have A Problem, which has a Scoville Unit score of 2,000,000. The first contestant to eat the three tenders, keep them down, and not take a drink for three minutes won $1,000! The next challenge HHC was having was A LOT OF FOOD! The first person to eat the original sandwich, cheese fries, 2 tenders and a waffle, 1 side of coleslaw, 1 tender with the hottest spice, and a choice of frozen lemonade or a milkshake. The first person to complete this challenge was awarded $500!
Congratulations to Houston Hot Chicken for throwing maybe the BIGGEST Grand Opening Celebration ever seen in St. George, Utah.
Houston Hot Chicken will be open for business starting Sunday at 10:30 AM until 8:00 PM. and 10:30 AM - 10:00 PM on every other day of the week.
This is HUGE! St. George Is Getting... A WHAT?!
Have you heard of the new Black Desert Resort here in St. George? Well, it's the new golf course that will be hosting both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour! This will be the first time in over 60 years that the Tour has come to Utah, and this will be a massive event. The PGA Tour will be happening in October of 2024, and the LPGA Tour will be happening the following year.
An instagram video surfaced today showing some GROUNDBREAKING things that will be coming to the Black Desert Resort in the coming months or years as well. The video posted by St. George Real Estate Agent, Paul Tangren.
In the video you have someone representing Black Desert Resort showing the "Masterplan" of the development. The man speaking says "When we got the PGA and the LPGA, we thought we were going to have to step up the game on entertainment, so this is being designed as a 12,500 seat concert venue that has a hotel that wraps around the venue, and a retractable roof, so it can be an indoor and outdoor concert venue. We have a contract with the Utah Jazz. One of the components of that agreement, is that they're going to come play their preseason games in our arena."
This will be something that will change St. George and Southern Utah, FOREVER if this actually is happening! A 12,500 seat venue is about 9x larger than Tuacahn, and around 3x larger than the Burns Arena at the Utah Tech University campus. We could FINALLY be getting huge concerts coming to town, as well as the Utah Jazz preseason games!
Las Vegas A's New Stadium Renderings Are UNBELIEVABLE!
It's signed, sealed, and delivered! The Oakland Athletics will soon become the Las Vegas Athletics, and their new home looks INCREDIBLE! Coming in 2028, the A's will be found on Las Vegas Boulevard in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. This April, The Tropicana Hotel & Casino will be closing it's doors forever and will be torn down. The demolition and clean up is expected to take a full year. Once the site is cleaned up, construction will begin on the BRAND NEW stadium on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana.
TECHNOLOGY:
This ballpark will have some never before seen views and technologies that only Vegas can offer. It will include an 18,000 square foot Jumbotron, making it the BIGGEST Jumbotron in the entire MLB. The current biggest Jumbotron belongs to the New York Mets, where it stands at 17,400 square feet.
RETRACTABLE ROOF?:
Many have assumed with the heat of Las Vegas, the roof will be retractable like the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Miami Marlins, and more. However, Las Vegas A's new home WILL NOT have a retractable roof, but instead the world's LARGEST cable-net glass windows showing the view of the Las Vegas Strip. Officials studied up and found that many teams with retractable roofs don't open them very often, so it made more sense to just keep it closed in with the air conditioning. These windows will allow for plenty of natural lighting as well as possibly the best view in all of professional sports in deep center field.
CAPACITY:
This new stadium will seat 33,000 fans, there will be 2,500 parking spots on location, with a 3-acre plaza leading up to the stadium. On the plaza, there will also be art, food trucks, shaded areas, activities, and pop-up retail spaces.
