Summer is fun in so many parts of our area, you can run to the beach or the mountains or according to Trip Advisor the number one spot for vacationers this year is the hot, dusty desert.

That's right Trip Advisor says that this year the #1 spot for summer vacation is Las Vegas, just down the road from us.

Now, I like Las Vegas sometimes, but let's just say I like Vegas in the summer when it is in the rearview mirror and we are headed to a beach somewhere.

Here are some alternative Utah vacations

Camping in the Mountains

Being in the cool mountains when it is hot where you live has a special reward to it, it's like being paid to go to a movie or getting a complimentary dessert at the restaurant. I love getting out of town and hitting the mountains with the smells and cool breezes.

Road Trip

The inner gypsy sometimes must be satiated and you just have to pack up your belongings into a travel wagon and see what you can find. My pops was pretty work focused, but when he donned his driving sunglasses a new side of him came out. I love taking to the road with a loose plan and the promise of new things to see on the horizon.

Beach

While not as relaxing as the mountains we live close enough to the coast that a beach should be a possible get away. It's noisy in the summer, but the waves relax me and I love to cool down in the salt water of the ocean. Like the lottery you might see a cool animal and nothing works up a hearty appetite like swimming in the sea.

Where is your favorite place to vacation and who do you like going with? It's time to get some ideas rolling because summer and vacations are just around the corner.
