Have you been to every state in the union?

I vividly recall an after-dinner conversation when I was about 9 and my mom sparked this topic revealing that my dad had accomplished this weighty task.

I was amazed at that age that someone could possibly have crisscrossed all 50 states (51 including Washington D.C.). A musician turned public speaker; he traversed the nation enough to apparently leave no state uncharted.

I wondered how hard this is to accomplish. I have since bumped into RV owners, athletes and a few others that have made the all states visit.

So how many have you visited?

If you have visited every state, you have done what only 2% of Utahns have been able to accomplish. 2%, that’s as elite as the milk in your fridge. These statistics include all states, but Utah as well.

Here is how the list breaks down:

2% of you have been able to go to 49- 51 of the states (including Washington D.C.)

If you have visited 40-49 states, then you are among 3%

4% of us have visited 35 - 39 states

30 - 34 states? You are among 6%

9% of us have been able to visit 25 - 29 states

20 - 24 states represent 9% of you road warriors

14% of travelers have been to 15 - 19 states

The biggest group has been to 10 - 14 states at 18%

6 - 9 states have been visited by 13% of us.

9% of us like to keep close to home by visiting 2 – 5 states

Finally, drum roll please, 11% of the nation have never left their home state.

Whether you've conquered many states or prefer the cozy familiarity of your home state, the journey of exploration sometimes lies in travel and other times in just life.
