This Look Works Good for Dracula

If you have been keeping up with this year’s trendy colors, it has been pantone peach fuzz and baby blue. These can look pretty stunning in your home until the trends change next year and you find it horrifying. Still, you are going to get approving nods from the in-crowd for using them.

On the other hand, there is one look that is getting a lot of designer’s disdain. I don’t know if it is technically a color, but it is black. Nobody seems to be happy with a lot of black walls in a home. It may be the color for Batman, but it gives off his gloomy vibe.

Other Colors Will Create a Moody Look

If you want to have a more brooding feel in your home, there are colors that will do that better than black. Part of the reason is that light can bounce off a deep red or somber blue whereas black sucks it in. A black room will make most people want to leave.

When we bought our current home, one room was painted completely black from the door to the walls to the trim. Walking into it felt oppressive and heavy and it took several coats of agreeable gray to lighten that place up.
