Minimal Growth At Little Twist Fire; Still 10 Percent Contained
The Little Twist Fire continues burning in the Fishlake National Forest, located 4 miles southeast of Beaver, Utah. The fire has grown to 2,316 acres and is still listed as 10% contained. The terrain in this area is steep and rugged, making firefighting efforts challenging. A total of 262 personnel have now been assigned to combat the fire.
Yesterday, June 19th, the fire showed minimal growth, with most of the burning occurring in the late afternoon and evening. Heavy helicopters were deployed on the north side of the fire to manage the heat along existing handlines, allowing crews to focus on fireline implementation and improvement.
Weather conditions are expected to become more challenging as temperatures rise into the weekend. The forecast predicts low relative humidity and increasing winds ahead of expected thunderstorms, with gusts potentially reaching up to 30 mph. These conditions could significantly impact fire growth. There is a 50% chance of precipitation, which may provide some relief.

Today, firefighting crews will focus on holding and improving critical firelines on the north and east perimeters of the fire. On the south and southwest perimeters, firefighters are working to improve roads and trails to use as indirect lines.
An area closure order remains in effect to ensure the safety of both firefighters and the public. Smoke from the fire will continue to be visible for several weeks from surrounding areas, including I-15, I-70, Hwy-89, and Hwy-20.
Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the Little Twist Fire and protect the surrounding communities and natural resources. The public is urged to stay clear of the area and adhere to safety advisories.
