To The Rich Lady I Overheard Complaining In St. George Utah
There I was at Superchix in St. George, patiently waiting for my food to be ready, when I overheard a conversation coming from the booth next to me.
“Ugh. I can't believe how busy this month is going to be.” Said the woman with incredibly expensive earrings.
“Soon we’re going to the Taylor Swift concert, and then when we get back we only have a couple of days to pack until we get on a plane to go to the Caribbean for vacation. On top of that, we have to fly COMMERCIAL.”
She said these things in the same tone a normal person would say that they have to pull double shifts at the auto plant.
"Oh my gosh that sounds awful" said her equally awful friends as they proceeded to complain about how they just got back from a cruise and are "sooooo tired".
Now I consider myself a pretty patient guy. But something about this conversation drove me up a wall.
I have come to the conclusion that when people are filthy rich and don’t have any financial worries, they start to invent problems just to feel more normal.
Listen, I don't know how this person got their money, I don't know their personal story, I have no idea if it was EARNED or if it was inherited, neither do I know all of the personal problems they may have.
I can honestly say I don't care either.
But FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY if you are drowning in money and you have the time to just constantly hop on planes and go all around the world for kicks and giggles, please have the decency to complain in a place where normal people aren’t tempted to set fire to your Escalade.
Okay so maybe that's a bit drastic. But as a person who has had to work very hard to afford the luxury of NOT DYING, I hope those more fortunate would realize how fortunate they are, and be more sensitive to their surroundings.
I was just about ready to let it all go and walk away when I heard one more thing.
“Ugh I'm so fat, I'm almost wearing a size MEDIUM T-shirt.”
That’s when I started looking for a lighter.
