There are a lot of people from California who end up moving to Utah, but there are also many Utahns who are looking to move away from the beehive state.

Maybe it's because of the political atmosphere, the heavy LDS presence, or just for a change of scenery, but people are moving OUT of Utah. People are still moving to Utah, of course, but many are leaving.

Now, I moved to Utah, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see the appeal of leaving. However, one cool thing the state offers is...no hurricanes and no tornadoes (mostly). The state does have some earthquakes, lots of wildfires, and is in a serious drought. So, it isn’t all great.

Where People in Utah Are Moving To

A study by Stacker showed where people from Utah are moving to or at least were moving to in 2022. Despite the natural disasters that some Southern states have, they continue to see people moving there. It has to be for that great Southern food, right?

#1 California

Utahns love to make fun of people from California but apparently, they are also moving to California. It’s pretty expensive there but maybe it's for a change of scenery.

#2 Texas

In 2022, over 10,000 Utahns moved to Texas. Perhaps it's for the legendary BBQ...

#3 Arizona

Maybe some Utahns didn’t want to move too far from home but wanted a desert feel. Arizona is the perfect place for that unless you go to Flagstaff.

#4 Idaho

Roughly 7,000 Utahns moved to the state in 2022, according to Stacker. I'm not sure what Idaho has, but that's a close choice too.

#5 Washington

Ah yes, Washington. Well, the atmosphere is certainly different and there are a lot of things to see.
