New numbers show Utah's stricter DUI law had a measured impact on the roads in its first month on the books.

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, 844 people were arrested in the state for driving under the influence back in January.

Of that number, 38 were charged for driving with a blood alcohol content between point-zero-five and point-zero-seven-nine.

Utah's DUI law is now the toughest in the U.S. after lawmakers voted to lower the threshold from point-zero-eight to point-zero-five last year.
