A task force of state lawmakers is moving forward with discussions on what changes it might recommend for Utah's current tax code.

State Senator Lyle Hillyard of Logan says he wants to reduce the state's income tax burden.

The ten-member Tax Restructuring and Equalization Task Force met yesterday at the State Capitol after conducting a series of town halls to hear ideas on tax reform from the public.

Ideas also being discussed include an increase in the sales tax on food.

The task force isn't expected to make any recommendations until later this year.
