A campaign aimed at reducing clogged sewer systems is making its way through Utah legislature.

“Toilets Are Not Trash Cans” is aimed at educating flushers to refrain from disposing of wet wipes, feminine products and unused pharmaceuticals in toilets.

Currently clogged lines and ruined pumps are a $3 million problem for sewers.

Representative Carl Albrecht of Richfield said that “This request is a very crappy request, but it is a very important and necessary one.

The campaign is asking for $150,000 which would be used for an educational campaign to raise awareness of the problem.
