80 year old mans body found in Ogden River

The Weber County Sheriff's Office is investigating why an 80-year-old man was found dead in the Ogden River.

Lt. Matt Jensen of the Weber County Sheriff's Office says concerned family members called yesterday afternoon after the man's car was spotted on State Route 39 near mile marker 10.

Searchers found the body of the unidentified man in the water about an hour after they began looking.

The Sheriff's Office did not release the name of the man yesterday, saying they were still contacting members of his family.

Ogden Canyon has been reopened following the recovery of the man's body.

Jensen says everyone should stay away from the river at this time.
