A local group is gearing up to defend the Dixie name

Amanda Baliff of The Defending Southwestern Utah Heritage Coalition attended a planning meeting last night for the group. Baliff said, “This meeting verified the movement to unify and protect people of any race, heritage and history. This is not just an effort to keep a word. It is an effort to keep the principles of The American experience alive.”
The group has a go fund me account called SaveUtah’sDixie.
There are rallies currently being planned both on and off campus and if you’d like to get involved in that you join the group at DSUHC.org
Damon Basil and Maureen Booth from The Defending Southwestern Utah Heritage Coalition Were in the KDXU studio on Friday to talk about none other than the threat of Dixie State University’s name change.
Maureen Booth says she feels like there aren’t any local citizens who are in support of the name change.
Damon Basil felt that the survey is skewed.
Booth feels that the Survey group Cicero was possibly paid to come up with the desired results.
Booth also feels that the survey group was hired to give the board members numbers and not really find out what people want.
Basil explains why The Defending Southwestern Utah Heritage Coalition formed.
Booth says she feels that the argument is invalid that enrollment will drop if the name Dixie is kept.
Basil dispels the rumor that the name Dixie on a resume will cost graduates a job.
