Alzheimer’s Hosting Purple Happy Hour on May 21 Event Sets Stage for Fall Walk to End Alzheimer’s
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is coming back to St. George this fall, and on May 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. the Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a Purple Happy Hour at Tru by Hilton St. George, 1251 S. Sunland Dr., St. George, to recruit new teams for the October 10 Walk at Dixie State University.
Guests who stop by the safe-distance outdoor event will learn details about the Walk, and enjoy purple drinks and snacks, prizes, and giveaways.
Captains of newly registered teams will also have a chance to win a pair of Purple Brooks Adrenaline shoes, from Foot Solutions in St. George.
“This disease does not slow down during COVID 19 and neither can we,” said Mike Miller, Southern Utah regional manager for the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Across Utah we host eight walks that raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research,” continued Miller.
“Right now, individuals serving as caregivers for people with Alzheimer’s are even more isolated than usual, and the community can show them their support by participating in this walk.”
Walk teams typically consist of between five to twenty-five people of all ages, from churches, businesses, healthcare providers, schools, and families.
There is no fee to participate in the walk and complete details will be provided at the Purple Happy Hour.
