Burn Notice in Washington County Suspended

Washington County fire agencies are suspending burn season until further notice due to the volatility of this year's fire season. This comes as the Bureau of Land Management extended fire restrictions on public lands in southern Utah. Fire officials say the season is suspended until it gets colder and wetter as the area remains dry and brittle, plus they already have crews fighting fires around Utah and other states.
Utah has had to spend around $36 million to fight the wildfires so far when the state usually budgets about $12 million to fight them, however a total of over $50 million may be needed this year.
They emphasized that at the moment, allowing permitted burns is not a wise thing to do.
