CDC looking at Hyrum meatpacking facility after Covid-19 outbreak

A team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control is heading to Cache County to help deal with an outbreak of COVID-19. 

The JBS meatpacking facility in Hyrum has recorded 287 cases of the coronavirus among their employees and Bear River Health Department spokesman Josh Greer thinks the number could be higher. 

Five epidemiologists and two other employees from the CDC will help with contact tracing and testing at the facility over the next six weeks. 

The company said it is working closely with employees and health officials to help prevent the spread of the virus at the Hyrum facility.

Greer says JBS has put COVID-19 prevention measures in place, but it hasn't stopped the spread.
