>>'Berlin Candy Bomber' Passes Away At Age 101
(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A famed World War Two veteran from Salt Lake City has passed away at the age of 101. Colonel Gail Seymour Halvorsen was best known as the "Berlin Candy Bomber," dropping candy for children as flew his plane over the German city. Governor Spencer Cox sent out a tweet, calling Halvorsen his friend and said his service was "a beautiful reminder that kindness and goodness can win, even in the most trying times."

(Salem, UT) -- Two teens boys at Salem Hills High School could face discipline after they were caught on camera making racist taunts during a girls basketball game. KSTU reports the incident occurred Tuesday when Provo High and Salem Hills High were playing. Both the Provo and Nebo School Districts confirm two boys from SHHS made monkey noises while two players of color for Provo shot free throws. Video shows administrators escorted the boys out of the gym.

(Salt Lake County, UT) -- An old website used by former South Jordan mayor and current Salt Lake County Councilman Dave Alvord is now working against him. A critic of Alvord took control of the site lower-SJ-taxes-dot-com, and posted a screenshot of a deleted post from the former mayor's Facebook page. The post created controversy last year after Alvord disparaged movements for equality. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Alvord let the domain registration expire, but was still linked to the old website through his Twitter profile earlier this week.

>>Logan Man Accused Of Raping Two Women
(Logan, UT) -- A Logan man faces charges after police say he raped two women. Records show 23-year-old Spencer Dodd met the first victim in late January through a dating app. That woman then called Dodd while police were listening in, and he admitted to the assault. A second woman came forward earlier this week, saying Dodd assaulted her when they were watching a movie together.

(Washington, DC) -- Republican Senator Mike Lee wants answers as to why an NBA veteran was recently cut from the team. Enes Freedom (formerly Kanter) was traded to the Houston Rockets by the Boston Celtics before the league's trade deadline. The Rockets then released him ten minutes later. Freedom has been an outspoken critic of China's treatment of Uyghur [[ WEE-gur ]] Muslims, as well as the league's relationship with the country. Senator Lee told The Hill he wanted to know the specific reason for the NBA veteran's release, and why no other teams picked him up on waivers.
>>St. George State Representative Wants To Ban "Vaccine Passports"
(St. George, UT) -- Republican state Representative Walt Brooks of St. George is pushing for passage of his bill to ban vaccine passports in Utah. Brooks says he is anti-discrimination, not anti-vaccine, and says the bill bans businesses and most government entities from requiring employees say if they have had any vaccinations. He does not want people to lose their jobs if they haven't had the shots. Calling it a civil right, Brooks compared it to an employer asking someone if they have AIDS.
>>State House Passes Transgender School Sports Bill
(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A bill that would form a commission to determine if transgender students can play school sports has passed the Utah House. The commission would be appointed by lawmakers and would need a doctor, a university-level athletic trainer, a coach, and a sports physiologist. There are four student-athletes that have played school sports so far after changing their birth certificate and taking hormone treatment.
>>Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested After Crash In Hurricane
(Hurricane, UT) -- Police have arrested a 42-year-old truck driver for suspected driving under the influence after a crash in Hurricane this week. Dustin Fremou's utility truck and trailer jackknifed as he was overcorrecting when the truck went off the shoulder of SR-9 in Hurricane. A SUV crashed into the trailer, sending a child to St. George Regional Hospital. Fremou is facing three charges.
>>South Jordan Man Sentenced For Child Pornography
(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A 23-year-old South Jordan man will spend 18 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a charge of making child pornography. Thomas Wallin was charged after Australian authorities contacted U.S. Homeland Security about material sent to someone there from the U.S. Investigators found videos of Wallin sexually abusing a boy younger than five-years-old.
>>Green Canyon Graduates High School Senior With Terminal Cancer
(North Logan, UT) -- Fernando Lozano is officially a graduate of Green Canyon High School in North Logan. The school held a special commencement for him, as he has terminal cancer and his health has taken a turn. His ceremony was attended by every student in the school.
