The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has removed a policy that placed barriers for the children of polygamists trying to join the faith.

Under the guidelines, those children could not become members without disavowing their parents' beliefs and leaving their family's home.

The First Presidency would then have to approve their membership as well.

A church spokesman says the changes reflect the earlier announcement related to the baptism of children whose parents are in same-sex relationships.
