ST. GEORGE —City of St. George employees removed 8,240 pounds of trash from Red Hills Parkway and a section of Interstate 15 the morning of March 19, a coordinated beautification project involving nearly 200 people.

“We made St. George look a little bit better than it was one day earlier,” said Marc Mortensen, Support Services Director for the City of St. George. “What we accomplished is really only a drop in the bucket for a city our size. As we continue to grow at a rapid pace, we must be vigilant toward keeping St. George clean and attractive.”

The City has partnered with Love Where You Live St. George (LWYL), a non-profit organization founded in 2020 by resident Raine Christensen, to help coordinate litter cleanups in different areas around St. George. In the last few months, LWYL has performed several cleanups involving various numbers of participants.

“It takes everybody to keep St. George beautiful,” Mortensen added. “For those looking to help, consider organizing a neighborhood cleanup and keep trash off our streets.”

To get involved, send a message to LWYL on social media.
