Daughter of LDS Church President Accused of Sexual Abuse
Six people who have accused relatives of the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of sexual abuse from their childhood are asking a federal judge to keep their lawsuit alive. In a new court filing, the plaintiffs argue that the Utah Legislature passed a law removing some limitations on civil lawsuits like theirs. Brenda Miles, the daughter of LDS Church President Russell Nelson, and her husband Richard Miles have denied the accusations and asked for their dismissal. The lawsuit alleges that the couple abused the accusers during the 1980s.
