The same toxic algae that's been killing dogs across the country is showing up in Utah.

Kelsee York, a water-monitoring technician with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, said the Mantua Reservoir in Box Elder County is one of the lakes on their radar.

She said when blue-green algae decomposes it releases toxins that can kill dogs.

Dog owners whose pets are vomiting, having diarrhea, or producing black, tarry stools should take them to a vet immediately.
