Starting this week, visitors to Utah's national parks and monuments will have the option of using electric bicycles.

The National Park Service says e-bikes will be allowed wherever traditional bikes are, on paved and unpaved roads open to the public.

Bikes are not allowed on any trails in the parks.

Officials also say the parks will not have charging stations, and generators aren't allowed in the backcountry.

The new rules take effect today.
