Energy Fuels Inc. laying off employees

Energy Fuels Inc. has laid off nearly one-third of its workforce at the White Mesa mill in San Juan County.

The company is blaming low global uranium prices, foreign subsidies and state-run companies for the cuts.

In all, 24 employees have left the company.

Uranium producers in the U.S. are hoping the Trump administration will intervene and require that U.S. nuclear power plants source one-fifth of their fuel from domestic sources.
