Free sales tax workshop offered in Hurricane
A free workshop to help southern Utah businesses and individuals better understand Utah’s sales and use tax will be held Sept. 19 in Hurricane.
Although there is no cost for the three-hour workshop, pre-registration is required because of limited seating. Those interested may register by email at taxtraining@utah.gov.
The Utah State Tax Commission will present the workshop from 9 a.m. to noon at Hurricane City offices, 147 N. 870 West.
“Owners and employees from businesses of all sizes as well as those considering starting a business are encouraged to attend,” said Charlie Roberts, Tax Commission spokesperson. “Because of the complexities of sales tax we expect an excellent turnout.”
In addition to an overview of Utah sales tax laws, presenters will discuss filing requirements, sales taxable products, exemptions, online filing, and other topics relating to sales tax.
Tax Commission staff members will be available following the workshop to address specific questions.
Additional information is available at tax.utah.gov/training. Registration closes Sept. 17.
