New rules will prevent you from traveling on domestic flights inside the US if you have not procured a REAL ID. New federal regulations went in to effect May 7th 2025 and it may create some issues at the airport if you are not prepared.
What is REAL ID?
REAL ID is a form of identification that meets increased federal security standards for all state issued driver's licenses and ID cards in the United States. This has been proposed, passed and in the works since the 9/11 attacks, and just went into effect. Our government is prompt, streamlined and so efficient.
The pitch from the government is that REAL ID enhances security and prevents identity fraud.

You need to have REAL ID to-
-Board any US flight

REAL ID typically has a gold star in the top right corner. Utah has been issuing REAL ID-compliant licenses since 2019. If your current license or ID has a gold star in the upper right corner, you're already compliant and no further action is needed.
