Really? Underwhelming Utah Location Makes 50 Most Beautiful
A travel site has a list of “the 50 most beautiful places in America.” Utah has two locations on the list. One makes sense while the other is a surprise. I’ll bet you can think of many locations in the beehive state that are more beautiful than their second pick.
Bryce Canyon Deserves a Spot on the Beautiful Places List
The hoodoos that stand as sentinels in Bryce Canyon are breathtaking. Especially when there is a dusting of snow blanketing the park. I’m not sure it is the most beautiful National Park in Utah, but it certainly can make a case for it.
The second location on the list from Utah is...the Bonneville Salt Flats. Probably not the first location that came to mind. I’m not saying it isn’t beautiful in its own way. That white flat surface for miles with dark mountains has a certain mystical feel to it.
Still, if you have traveled along I-80 towards Wendover, it isn’t the most captivating site. It feels like a whole lot of nothing. If I were suggesting to a friend of natural places to visit in Utah, I wouldn’t be sending them there unless they were a race fan.
Where Would You Place Bonneville Salt Flats on the List?
This website lists 17 natural wonders in Utah and has the Salt Flats at #13 after Burr Trail Switchbacks which is a scenic drive in Garfield County, and ahead of Fantasy Canyon in Vernal.

That seems about right. Even then, take a drive in any direction in Southern Utah and you will find some amazing views. Same goes for any mountain along the Wasatch Front. Ironically, sometimes I think these travel sites only look at the pictures of places rather than actually visiting.
