There's a group of people who are getting anxious for these pleasant days to cool off more, for there to be even less daylight hours, and above it all, they are waiting for the snow to fall. They are getting itchy. It's been too long, and they are wanting to hit the slopes.

While no one can pinpoint the exact time when the mountains will again become snow capped, and the runs filled with deep, luscious Utah powder, one thing skiers have come to count on. It's costing more.

The cost of skiing in the United States has been steadily rising, making it increasingly challenging for many people to afford a day on the slopes. Once a relatively accessible winter sport, skiing has become more expensive due to a variety of factors, from the rising price of lift tickets to the cost of equipment, lodging, and other associated expenses.

Ski equipment is another significant cost. Skis, boots, and helmets can cost several hundred dollars to thousands for top-tier models. Many people rent gear, but even rental prices have climbed, especially for high-quality equipment.

One of the most notable increases is in lift ticket prices. In the past, a single-day lift ticket was affordable for most winter enthusiasts, but today, ticket prices at major resorts often exceed $200 for a single day. This trend has been fueled by growing demand, particularly at well-known destinations like Aspen, Vail, and Park City, which are sought after for their vast terrain, luxurious amenities, and excellent snow conditions. Smaller resorts, while often less expensive, have also seen prices rise, albeit at a slower rate.

Fortunately, one Utah ski resort seems to be bucking this trend. The Points Guy recently came out with the list of Eight Affordable Ski Resorts in the U.S. and Canada, and Utah has one on the list.

Care to guess which one?

I'll give you a hint: It's in southern Utah.
