Halloween has most definitely made its way to Southern Utah with all the decorations and spooky vibes surrounding some houses.

As always when it comes to holidays, some people are a little more invested in the decorating part. For those of us who absolutely adore seeing pumpkins, skeletons, and animatronic spiders, this year is one to remember.

A local Facebook group called Southern Utah Halloween Haunts, has dedicated itself to mapping out of the coolest Halloween houses in the area. If you’re familiar with Hedgehog Electric’s Christmas Light Spectacular, it's like that.

For those of you who are not familiar, Hedgehog Electric puts out a tour of Southern Utah homes each year featuring the most decked-out Christmas setups. It’s always over 20 homes and people really get into it.

Local Austin McDonald put together this Halloween House list featuring 24 homes/locations that have gone all out for Halloween. Those in the group were invited to submit their homes for the map.

Now, you need not go as hard as I did for my own spooky tour. However, if you would really like to get into the spirit and get some more use out of your Halloween costume, I recommend dressing up a bit. Also, grab some apple cider for the drive, turn on a Halloween playlist, and pick a few houses you want to visit.

I ended up going to seven houses in total but only six had their decorations up. That took me about three hours since I hit several different places all over town. Seeing all 24 is probably a two- or three-day event.

Here are some of the spookiest houses to see around Southern Utah this year.

The Barbie House

One resident really embraced Barbie this year and had skeletons in Barbie attire along with a mojo dojo casa house sign that cracked me up.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion

This one was so cool! The projections on the house kept changing and I was able to speak with the owner who was outside checking the lights. If you are a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, this house is for you as it’s decked-out with all the best Disney ghouls. The owner said roughly 1,500 kids come to the neighborhood on Halloween and I know they’re going to love this house.

This house was spectacular with a skeleton horse carriage and driver and some fun headstones. They also have a GIANT SKELETON that lords over them all.

The location for this one had no name but based on the style of decorations and possibly more headstones than the last house, it felt fitting. There are some fantastic webs near the porch and ghosts and skeletons everywhere you look.

Spider King

If you don’t like spiders, I’m not sure this is the one for you but, seeing a huge spider crawling over the house was awesome. Unfortunately, the inflatables were not going but I’m sure if it had been a little later, or closer to Halloween I would have been able to see them.

(I went from 6:30 p.m. to roughly 9:30 p.m.)

Haunted Wood Cove Pirate Ship House

Now, these guys went ALL OUT. I mean there was music, a giant pirate ship with water coming out of it, a cool walk-through, and little decorated spaces. All pirate themed. There is even a Jack Sparrow in there! You can walk through at any time until 11 p.m. however if you head over Friday through Sunday, there is an active show.

I had such a great time checking out all these wonderfully decorated houses, my only regret is that I could not see more in one night. For a full list go to “featured” in the Southern Utah Haunts FB group and you’ll find the map with all 24 addresses.

Happy Spooky Season, Y’all!
