Ken Garff Family Donates 17.5 Million Dollars to U of U
A record-setting donation is leading the way toward the expansion of the University of Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The university announced Saturday that the Ken Garff family has donated 17-point-five-million-dollars to the 80-million-dollar project.
Bob Garff says he hopes the stadium will be used for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics if Utah succeeds in its bid to host the games.
Plans call for demolishing and rebuilding the south end zone area of the stadium and adding five-thousand more seats as well as new locker rooms and meeting spaces.
Construction will begin following the 2020 football season.
Bob Garff has high hopes for the renovations to Rice-Eccles Stadium.
