Legislation to Make Slavery Illegal in Utah is Approved
A resolution to make slavery illegal in Utah is getting unanimous approval in the legislature.
The bill, sponsored by Representative Sandra Hollins, would remove a clause from Utah's constitution that contained the term slavery in a description of the leasing of prisoners during a labor shortage.
The measure was cleared Wednesday, and it'll be voted on in the 2020 election.
