Police officer helps woman deliver baby
A new mom is praising a West Valley City police officer for his quick action to help her have a baby before she could get to a hospital.
Michelle Garcia, speaking through an interpreter, said she wasn't prepared when she went into labor Tuesday.
Officer Jeremy Dean stopped to help after Garcia's husband flagged him down in the middle of 31-hundred South.
Dean put on a pair of medical gloves and caught the baby as it arrived, then tried to keep it warm until EMTs arrived.
Garcia said yesterday that both she and her newborn are doing well and that she is very grateful for Dean's help.
Michelle Garcia was not only grateful for Dean's help with the delivery, but his later visit to the hospital to make sure she and her baby girl were alright.
