West Valley police shoot and kill man

A man is dead after being shot by a West Valley City police officer during an altercation as he was being booked for DUI.

Police spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku says investigators are still looking into the shooting, including body camera footage from officers who were there.

Police say Chad Breinholt was taken into custody Friday night after reportedly causing problems at a local business.

The altercation happened in the DUI processing area of the West Valley City police department.

No details about the altercation or the shooting have been released.

The investigation into the shooting is being handled by the Salt Lake City Police Department.
