Republican Congressmen pushing to prevent dropping of minor league teams

Republican Congressmen Chris Stewart and Rob Bishop are joining a bipartisan push to prevent Major League Baseball from dropping teams from the minor league system.

Under a proposal from MLB, the Orem Owlz and Ogden Raptors would be among 42 teams to go after the 2020 season.

In a letter to Commissioner Rob Manfred, 106 members of the U.S. House says the plan is not in the best interest of the sport, citing record revenues from Major League Baseball as part of the reason.
