Residents private information posted in Salt Lake County
Salt Lake County officials are investigating how private information about residents who were tested for COVID-19 was posted to a county website.
Deena Pease says she was shocked when her husband told her information about his negative test result had been posted to the county's COVID-19 dashboard.
Test results linked to addresses were available from Thursday through late Monday.
A spokesperson for the county health department said steps have been taken to make sure the information can't be made public in the future.
The department said the release was unintentional and part of an effort to be transparent about efforts to test for and track the virus in the county.
Pease says it would be easy for scammers to use the leaked information to contact those tested for COVID-19.
