The Switchpoint Community Resource Center is reporting that they lost about 90-percent of their volunteer hours due to the pandemic.

The center provides services and shelter for the homeless population, while operating as a food pantry.

Officials say the loss of volunteers is due to the pandemic because most of them are of retirement age or older, which makes them more at risk of experiencing serious symptoms of COVID-19.

They added that without volunteers, existing staff has been scrambling to cover what services they can and if they don't see more come in, then more of the services they offer for the community will suffer.
